The Piano Abstracts
I grew up around a piano, thanks to my mother and brother our home was filled with music pretty much every day. One day my choir director, a pianist himself, pointed out that marks on my art resembled piano keys and musical notes - and in that moment, it all made sense - why pieces don’t feel complete to me until I add the rectangular blocks of black or white, or the curls of a clef note. On most of my abstracts and all of my art really, there is an undercurrent of music. That is my story, that is me.
