Mt. Zion Baptist Church

A low brick-and-stucco sanctuary sits back from a wide green lawn, its deep portico carried on pale columns and its arched entry painted a rich, shadowed blue. A slender cross rises against a soft turquoise sky, and the brushwork stays loose and generous throughout, more interested in light and proportion than in fine detail. Warm sand and ochre tones in the walls balance the cool of the doorway, giving the whole scene a settled, welcoming quiet. It makes a meaningful piece for a fellowship hall, a church office, or the home of anyone with roots in this congregation.
