Beacon Environmental

The building sits long and low behind a wide sweep of pale grey forecourt, its blue-grey walls and stone base anchored by a run of tall dark windows. Loose green masses of trees press in from either side, and the sky above is worked in thick cream and soft blue strokes that keep the whole scene moving. A small wedge of lawn interrupts the pavement and draws the eye toward the entrance. The handling is painterly and unfussy -- an everyday working building given the same attention most painters save for a landscape -- and it settles easily into a lobby, a boardroom, or the office of anyone who had a hand in building it.
