Description: Based on the Badlands National Park in South Dakota, this part of the United States is like no other. Incredible vistas and colors - the great American landscape. Process: The raw wood used in this painting is lightly sanded with special attention given to grooves and grains - to keep them present in the painting process. Gesso is applied and then I use high quality acrylic paints. With the wood, I like to use less water so the paints fill in the grooves with strong pigment. The wood grains create textures with the paints that enhance the brush strokes, shading, and contrasting elements within the painting. Sides have been painted so artwork does not need to be framed. It is wired on the back and easy to hang.
