About: This listing is a 3d wood artwork made out of upcycled shim pieces hand cut and painted then framed all by artist Sallie Otenasek and her husband Rick. This piece is unique with a grey toned background giving the lavender, teal and white tones of the shims a subtle contrast that blends softly into the composition of the entire piece. The frame is solid wood that is sanded painted distressed, sanded and painted again till the right blend is reached with the interior artwork. What takes the longest with these pieces is the arranging of the shims - it can take days to place these pieces just so to get a look and feel that makes sense to me. I wish I could what it is I am looking for, I never can quite give a reason or explanation but when people see these final shim artworks in person, their eyes light up and an understanding comes upon them. I once heard someone tell me that seeing a shim artwork and truly understanding them is like reading a book - this piece has a wonderful story to tell. Enjoy!!
